O’Brien’s Literary Speculator isn’t only for me… Its also for you.

That sounds very nice. Well it is not. I am looking for people who want to join me this venture so that I do not have to do all the work by myself.

These are the purposes and goals that OLS hopes to achieve in order to feed my megalomania.

THE PURPOSE:

First: Create and publish an edited literary journal which will showcase the work of excellent writers with little or no publishing history.

Second: We will also publish authors who have been published and are mid career.

Three (consistency is important): We will achieve a balance of 80% new voices in each issue published.

D (or perhaps it is not): We will, through the sale of the journal, sponsorships, donations, grants, etc. raise money to: provide the honorariums for the writers and editors of each journal. Provide Awards for Excellence in writing that will include a cash honorarium, provide scholarships to writer’s conferences, provide Summer Sabbaticals, financial aid to a writer or writers enabling them to take two months to develop, work-on, or finish a writing project.

Writers and editors whose work is published will be given an honorarium in an amount in keeping with industry standards.
