Who reads more Urban Fantasy M or F?

This is an important question not only from an artistic point of view but from an ethical, grammatical and  marketing stance. My editing goddess or more correctly editor, has said to me that I use the masculine too much, when I have a choice of he, she, or it. I chose in the edited specimen to use “he.” In that piece I have an angel say something like, “I am using he as a convenience,  such pronouns do not really apply to the Creator at all. So don’t go running back to every women you have ever spoken to saying the Creator is male.”  She said, “Why not use she and have the angel make the same statement?”

I thought about this and my personal feeling is that he, man, guys, etc., are default pronouns, when I use she in terms of the Creator, I am making a statement.  Then I thought, “Is it really a statement if more females then males read Urban Fantasy?” I decided it still is.

Then I wondered is it a statement that would hurt or help chances of publication? Most of the agents I have met are women so maybe  it would help. Is that dishonest or something worse if you try to play up to an agent on other than literary grounds?

So now not only do I have a grammatical dilemma I have a marketing and ethical dilemma. Anyone have any advice? Please.
